CITY OF IONIA
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund Grant Program

The City of Ionia will conduct a public hearing on March 5, 2025, at 6:30 PM, in the Council Chambers located at 114 North Kidd Street, Ionia, Michigan 48846, for the purpose of affording citizens an opportunity to submit comments on the proposed application for a Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund Grant.

The City of Ionia proposes a project that will request $400,000 in Michigan Natural Resources Trust Funds to finance improvements to McConnel Park, including playground equipment, drinking fountain, picnic shelter, and pathways and benches throughout the area for universal access. McConnel Park is located on city-owned property on E. Washington Street. The parcel number for this property is 34-203-240-000-130-00. The City proposes to contribute 50% matching funds for this grant. This project is included in both the City’s current Parks and Recreation Master Plan and Capital Improvement Plan. No persons will be displaced as a result of the proposed activities.

Further information, including copies of the City of Ionia’s Parks and Recreation Master Plan, Capital Improvement Plan, and a draft of the conceptual site elements and probable costs for the grant application are available for review and discussion. Comments may be submitted in writing through March 5, 2025, or made in person at the public hearing. Citizen views and comments on the proposed application are welcome.
