NOTICE OF CLOSEOUT PUBLIC HEARING
FOR MICHIGAN COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT (CDBG) FUNDING FOR DOG PARK/WIRELESS SPEAKERS PROJECT
The City of Ionia will conduct a closeout public hearing on June 4, 2025, at 6:30 PM, at Ionia City Hall in the Council Chambers located at 114 North Kidd Street, Ionia, Michigan 48846, for the purpose of affording citizens an opportunity to submit comments and receive a final report on the completion of the Dog Park/Wireless Speakers CDBG.
The CDBG provided funding to assist in the construction of a dog park on a longtime vacant parcel located at 208 S. Steele Street, Ionia, MI 48846, and the installation of a wireless speaker system placed on lampposts within the Downtown Business District and Steele Street Corridor. The project cost was $629,185.01 with 70% ($440,000) funded by the CDBG and the remaining 30% ($189,185.01) from local City matching funds. The CDBG project benefitted at least 51% low to moderate income persons; no persons were displaced as a result of the project.
Citizen views and comments on the CDBG project are welcome. Interested parties are invited to comment on the project in person at the public hearing or in writing through June 4, 2025.
