Margot Cook

Margot Cook

City Council
Title: First Ward Councilmember

Margot Cook was born in 1995 and is a proud 6th-generation Ionian. She’s a lifelong “Bulldawg” having graduated from Ionia Public Schools with the class of 2013. Upon returning home from college, she moved into the city of Ionia and has resided on the 400-block of downtown ever since. She co-owns Cook & Co. and recently purchased two additional downtown properties with plans for their restoration.

Though only in her twenties, Margot has already served her community in a number of capacities. She is a former Ionia Theatre board member, former board member of the Downtown Development Authority and served five years on the IPS Board of Education. Margot is a current member and volunteer of the Ionia County Historical Society, a volunteer at the Ionia County Animal Shelter, and the current treasurer for the Ionia Cultural Guild.

Margot enjoys walking her dogs at Bertha Brock Park, riding bike along the Fred Meijer Trail network, and attending community events. She is a professional artist, specializing in portraits and landscapes, with many of her pieces on public display throughout the county and downtown area.
